Field Trip to London for the First Year Students

All the first year students in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (BSc Construction Project Management, BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and BSc Real Estate Management) went on a field trip to London on Friday 1 March 2013.

The trip forms the core of the first year module: Integrative Project 1 and is an active learning experience based around visits to a number of development sites operated by Byrne Group in the Southwark area of London. The three sites visited this year were: 240 Blackfriars; Sea Containers House and the Tate Modern Extension, along with walking tours along the Southbank/Embankment and Palestra House. For more information about any of these sites, click on the links.

During the trip, students were asked to conduct a series of investigations which will lead into coursework later in the module. Here are some photos of the action - by Michael Hill (240 Blackfriars), Ye Xu (Sea Containers House) and George Blumberg (Tate Modern Extension).
