All the first year students in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (BSc Construction Project Management, BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and BSc Real Estate Management) went on a field trip to London on Friday 1 March 2013.
The trip forms the core of the first year module: Integrative Project 1 and is an active learning experience based around visits to a number of development sites operated by Byrne Group in the Southwark area of London. The three sites visited this year were:
240 Blackfriars;
Sea Containers House and the
Tate Modern Extension, along with walking tours along the
Southbank/Embankment and
Palestra House. For more information about any of these sites, click on the links.
During the trip, students were asked to conduct a series of investigations which will lead into coursework later in the module. Here are some photos of the action - by Michael Hill (240 Blackfriars), Ye Xu (Sea Containers House) and George Blumberg (Tate Modern Extension).
