Netherlands Field Trip 2012: Day 5 - Utrecht and Oxford

Thursday 26 January 2012

The last day of the field trip, but before we return to Oxford there's time for one last visit. This time it's a visit to Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht - the largest housing and industrial development in the Netherlands. 30,000 houses will have been built in this new district of Utrecht by 2015. The large scale of the development together with the neighbourhood by neighbourhood approach to design and development has offered the urban planners and architects some unique opportunities which are visible in the great diversity of architectural styles and types of housing. Each neighbourhood within the district possesses an individual identity and its own particular ambience. Find out more about the development on the Utrecht website.

Then it was back to Oxford and Oxford Brookes University.
